In 8th grade, you’re probably not thinking a whole lot about what you want to be “when you grow up.” Here’s a list of some simple things you can do to say on top of the situation.
• Participate in a career fair
• Take a careers course

Join a student organization like FFA, FBLA or FCCLA

Log into SDMyLife system
- Take the Career Matchmaker interest survey
- Research a career of interest
- Save the following into My Portfolio
- Career clusters you are interested in
- Careers you are interested in
- Awards and certificates you have received
- Begin to develop your Personal Learning Plan during spring semester
• Review your district’s requirements for graduation
• Register for 9th grade classes based on your career interests and graduation requirements
